Bluestone Federal Credit Union to Open New Branch Concept
Microbranch Offers Members the Services Needed Closest to Home and Work
(SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA) – Bluestone Federal Credit Union will break ground on their fourth location in Sioux Falls. Their newest branch, known as a microbranch, is based on a trend to maximize financial services within a smaller footprint.
“The microbranch concept allows us to offer our members the services they want and need closest to home and work,” says Alayna Johnson, president of Bluestone Federal Credit Union. “When we looked at our members’ locations, we saw an opportunity to offer services closer to our members west of I-29.”
The branch, located near 41st Street and Sertoma Avenue, will offer credit union members access to interactive ATMs and lending services within a smaller building footprint compared to traditional credit unions and banks.
Offering more complex services than a traditional ATM, interactive ATMs provide live, two-way chat that connects members virtually to a member service representative for support. Two interactive ATMs will be located inside the building with one outdoors for convenient, 24/7 access. The branch will also be staffed during business hours for members needing in-person support.
“While financial transactions are completed through the interactive ATMs, we still want to provide in-person support to our members,” said Johnson. “That person-to-person connection is a cornerstone of the service we provide our members at Bluestone Federal Credit Union.”
The 41st Street branch is scheduled to open in spring 2026, and is being built by Reynolds Construction Management.
